Pakistani batter Imam ul Haq suffered a huge blow to his head in the NZ vs PAK 3rd ODI at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui. The opener was stuck on his head while he was taking a run. A direct throw from the fielder struck the batter while he was taking a run at the non-striker's end.

Imam ul Haq was spotted to be in tantalizing pain upon being hit on his helmet. He was then immediately carried off from the field by the ambulance. The game was cut short owing to rain, and the Kiwis went on to pile 264 runs on the board after batting first. Imam's incident took place in the third over of Pakistan's run chase.

Imam in this innings faced 7 deliveries, where he managed to score a single run before being retired hurt. Imam had brushed off the delivery from William O'Rourke and trodded off to take a single run.

But the throw from the fielder saw the ball getting lodged on his helmet. Imam, while still in pain, removed his helmet to remove the ball and then went on to hold his jaw, indicating where he had incurred the most injury.

Usman Khan named as concussion substitute

As Imam-ul-Haq couldn't continue and had to depart the field in an ambulance, the Pakistan team needed a substitute. The Men in Green decided to field Usman Khan as the concussion for the injured Imam.

Usman's stay on the crease too was short-lived. He managed to score 12 runs from 17 deliveries before being dispatched by Muhammad Abbas. Coming to the game, the Black Caps managed to score 264 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in a rain-curtailed game.
