Rajasthan Royals (RR) steamrolled Gujarat Titans (GT) by eight wickets in the 47th match of the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
Chasing 210 runs, RR launched an explosive start, with Vaibhav Suryavanshi (101 runs off 38 balls) taking charge. The 14-year-old opener attacked GT’s bowlers, including Mohammed Siraj and Ishan Sharma, who was taken to the cleaners in the fourth over, leaking 28 runs after getting hit for two fours and three sixes.
Suryavanshi continued his onslaught, tearing apart Washington Sundar. He smacked two sixes and a four off the off-spinner, bringing up his maiden IPL fifty in the process in just 17 deliveries, the fastest of the season. He also became the youngest to score an IPL half-century.
RR scored 87 runs in the powerplay without the loss of any wicket.
Karim Janat, who was making his IPL debut, had a horrible outing. The medium-pacer was belted by Suryavanshi, who took the liking to this dibbly-dobbly deliveries and hammered three sixes and as many fours in an over that cost 30 runs.
The southpaw completed his maiden IPL hundred with a maximum off Rashid Khan in the 10th over in just 35 balls, the second-quickest in the IPL history.
Yashasvi Jaiswal (70* runs off 40 balls), who was also scoring boundaries at the rate of knots, unleashed himself in the 12th over. He collected a four off Prasidh Krishna’s bowling to score his half-century and then tonked a six on the following delivery.
Prasidh cleaned up Suryavanshi to bring an end to a historic knock. Rashid deceived Nitish Rana (4 runs off 2 balls) in the 13th over as the latter was adjudged LBW.
Riyan Parag (32* runs off 15 balls) did not let the momentum derail and finished off the match quickly, playing a quick-fire 32-run knock. He competed the run-chase with a six off Sundar as RR won the match in 15.5 overs with eight wickets remaining.
With this victory, RR moved to eighth place on the IPL 2025 points table, while GT dropped to third position.
