Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) raced to a powerful start in the power play against Mumbai Indians (MI) in the ongoing 20th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Despite losing Phil Salt (4) on just the second ball, Virat Kohli continued to attack and in the company of Devdutt Padikkal, raced to 50 within six overs.
The highlight of the first 10 overs was undoubtedly Kohli's dismissive six of Jasprit Bumrah. The RCB superstar gave a little room and played an authoritative shot to signal his intentions to the World's best pacer. That shot got Kohli going, and since then he has always looked at scoring opportunities. What was refreshing to see was Padikkal also joined the batter in taking the attack to MI bowlers.
MI skipper Hardik Pandya used different bowlers to break the Padikkal-Kohli partnership, however he failed to get any success as Boult, Chahar, and Bumrah were attacked.
Kohli & Padikkal lay the perfect foundation as RCB look to post 200 plus score
With a terrific start provided by Kohli and Padikkal (37), RCB will now look to launch in the next 10 overs. With Rajat Patidar, Liam Livingstone, Jitesh Sharma, and Tim David to follow, RCB will be aiming to get a 200-plus score. Kohli has raced to 50 off just 29 balls and is keen to break RCB's Wankhede's jinx. RCB are 100 for the loss of two wickets in 10 overs.
