It just might be the Return of the King. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fans might be in for a huge surprise. Their beloved MS Dhoni might be captaining the side in their clash against Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025 on April 05.
The reason for the same? Current captain Ruturaj Gaikwad has a right arm injury, and there are rumors that former CSK captain MS Dhoni just might don the skipper's role for this game. The 43-year-old veteran might take over the reins of the team while Gaikwad recovers from his injury.
Ahead of the CSK vs DC clash, batting coach Michael Hussey indicated that Ruturaj Gaikwad is still sore with his injury. He teased that a young player behind the stumps who has some experience can step up as the captain.
“We have got some young guy coming through, he’s behind the stumps. I’m not sure he’s got a bit of experience in the role, so maybe he could do it,”Michael Hussey said before the game.
Hussey further claimed that they are hopeful that Gaikwad would recover in time from his injury. The CSK team would be hoping that Gaikwad could contribute with the bat.
“We are hoping that he is fit. He is going to try and have a bat in training. We are hopeful he will be fine for tomorrow,” said Hussey on the eve of the game.
