Virat Kohli gave billions of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fans a reason to celebrate as he finally won his maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) trophy in the 18th edition by beating Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Tuesday, June 03 in Ahmedabad. As Kohli has often told in several interviews about the significance of number 18, he won the T20 tournament in his 18th year with jersey 18 on the back.

As the last ball was bowled by Josh Hazlewood, cameras panned to Kohli, who went down on his knees and shed happy tears. He was soon embraced by his teammates, as RCB finally had their moment under the sun. Right from hugging his better half Anushka Sharma, to sharing an iconic trophy picture with AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle, Kohli let his emotions go fully and celebrated the win like a kid in a candy store. However, as the celebrations continued, the RCB star also addressed his retirement plans from the IPL.

Virat Kohli opens up about IPL retirement plans

The 36-year-old shocked everyone when he announced his retirement from Test cricket on May 07. Fans thought by winning the IPL trophy, Virat Kohli might announce his IPL retirement. However, he has rest assured fans he is not going anywhere soon after just lifting the cup for the first time.

"Well, I have an opportunity to play this game for not many years. So there is an end date to our career, as you know. And by the time that I hang up my boots, I want to sit at home and say I gave it everything I had. So I look for ways to improve," Kohli said after the match.

After the IPL 2025 season, Kohli will get a much-needed break for up to three months before India next plays the ODI series in September.
