PCB To Probe Suspended UK-Based Pakistani Agent For Breach Of Anti-Corruption Code

The Pakistan Cricket Board is all set to conduct an inquiry on a UK-based Pakistani agent after the latter was suspended by the England & Wales Cricket Board for breach of anti-corruption code.

The agent by the name of Mughiz Ahmad Shearachiikh and his is company International Cricketers Association (ICA) had last year signed centrally contracted players from Pakistan. Reports add that he had also represented 18-20 centrally players from the PCB.

Sheikh Ahmad apparently tried to bribe an English coach of a team to play his players. In return, the coach reported the matter to the ECB. The report was further escalated to the PCB by a reliable source and the players were advised to rethik about their association with Sheikh.

PCB To Tighten Rules On Players Getting Their Own Agents Following Mishap

In the meantime, the ECB has already suspended Mughiz Ahmad Sheikh as they found him guilty of four violations of the ECB’s anti-corruption code. He had his registration with the ECB suspended as well after his actions were reported.

Meanwhile, PCB after the matter has come to light is looking to tighten the screws in the approval procedure for allowing agents and their companies to represent Pakistani players.

“Cricket has changed and with so many T20 and T10 leagues and endorsement opportunities available, all players have their agents to look after their best business interests. The PCB will now change and tighten its procedure before approving the registration of any agent," the source said.

Some of the best players from the current set up of the national team had signed up with Sheikh Ahmad for their cricketing priorities. Former Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed was also being represented by his company for a short-term basis.

Speaking about the Pakistan Cricket team, they are currently playing an ODI series against New Zealand .They lost the first ODI in Napier and the second is scheduled on April 2 in Hamilton. Pakistan lost the five-match T20I series heading into the ODI series.
