It is no secret that Virat Kohli always loved playing Test cricket than the other two formats of the game - ODI & T20I. The legendary batter brought new audiences to love the oldest format of the game, and always ensured to vibe with the crowds whenever he played a Test match at home or abroad. Naturally, when out of the blue moon he announced retirement from the red-ball game, the fans across the globe were heartbroken. However, the former India captain made fans nostalgic when he shared a few pictures on his official Instagram account about a Test match in England on Wednesday, September 17.

While describing the post, the right-hand batter expressed his open love for the oldest format of the game. "Nothing comes close to playing an intense game in whites. What a blessing to be able to play test cricket for India," Virat Kohli captioned the pictures on Instagram.

"King Kohli," a user posted a comment with a heart emoji.
"Miss you on the field, champ," another one joined in.
"King of playing games in whites," a fan added.

The former India captain also shared a throwback picture, fondly reminiscing about his glorious period lost in nature before the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Throwback to when you could go to such beautiful spots in nature. Just to be able to sit together and just soak it all in. With my one and only," Kohli captioned the picture with his better half, Anushka Sharma, on Instagram.

Cricket, like all other sports, had been hugely impacted by the pandemic for two years. The IPL 2020 and 21 seasons were played with no crowd involvement. International cricket only resumed in July 2020 with England hosting West Indies for a three-match Test series.

Virat Kohli - India's best Test captain

Kohli, who captained India in 68 Tests, won 40 of those, with a win percentage of 58.82. He also scripted history by becoming Asia's first leader to win a Test series against Australia Down Under in the 2018-19 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Kohli also became the first captain from Asia to win multiple Tests in South Africa. In fact, he had come ever so close to securing India's maiden Test series in the Rainbow Nation. However, he fell short in the 2017-18 Test series.

However, in his Test captaincy stint, India never lost a home Test. He literally dominated each team with his aggressive and fearless leadership. The RCB icon often played with a five-team bowling attack and always wanted home curators to prepare spin-friendly tracks. Kohli finished his Test career with 9230 runs in 123 Tests, with 31 half-centuries, and 30 hundreds, including seven double-hundreds.
