IPL 2025 - WATCH! Tilak Varma Roasts Rinku Singh for Chasing Rohit Sharma’s Bat After MI Thrash KKR

Rinku Singh got some friendly ribbing from Tilak Varma after he asked Rohit Sharma for a bat following Mumbai Indians' (MI) eight-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.

The funny moment, caught on video by MI’s social media team, saw Rinku, known for his knack of collecting bats from top players, requesting Rohit for one of his bats, only to be hilariously trolled by Varma in return.

Rinku Singh Approaches Rohit Sharma for His Bat

The incident unfolded after the match at the Wankhede Stadium, where MI debutant Ashwani Kumar’s sensational 4/24 skittled KKR for 116 in 16.2 overs. MI chased the target in just 12.5 overs as Ryan Rickelton contributed with his maiden IPL fifty. Post-match, as players mingled, Rinku approached Rohit with his familiar bat request, to which Varma said:

"Khud ke naam ka itna accha bat hai, phir bhi bat mangta hai dekho” (He has such a good bat in his name, yet he’s asking for one)."

Soon after, MI captain Hardik Pandya playfully confronted Rinku, who then had to explain his reason for the unexpected visit. The fun peaked when young KKR batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi was spotted holding what looked like Rohit’s bat.

Rinku Singh's Bat Collection Habit

Rinku’s habit of requesting bats is not new. He has previously scored bats from Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav, even breaking the one gifted by Kohli, which led to a sarcastic exchange between the duo recently. In a video that went viral, Rinku later confirmed receiving a replacement from Kohli.

Talking about Rinku's form, he has not looked in a good touch. In two matches, the left-hander has accumulated only 29 runs.

With KKR already under the pump after losing two matches this season, they would want Rinku to stabilise their middle-order and do what he did in 2023 when he scored 474 runs in 14 innings.

KKR will next lock horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 3 at the Eden Gardens.
