Mumbai Indians bowled out Kolkata Knight Riders for just 117 in the first innings. This is their first game at the Wankhede Stadium this season and so far they have done everything right as they are looking to win their first game of the season.
MI debutant Ashwani Kumar took 4/24 in his first IPL game as Kolkata Knight Riders batters were left clueless. Trent Boult and Deepak Chahar shared three wickets between themselves inside the powerplay to give MI a good start. Eventually, KKR lost four wickets within the first six overs.
Angkrish Raghuvanshi (26 runs off 16 balls) was the top-scorer for KKR in their innings. They lost wickets at regular intervals which meant that they had to use Manish Pandey as their impact sub. He scored 19 off 14 balls and failed to make a big impact in the match.
Ryan Rickelton Scored His Maiden IPL Fifty For MI
Ramandeep Singh scored 22 off 12 balls in the final overs as KKR were bowled out for 117. Chasing 117 to win, MI got a powerful start from Ryan Rickelton (50 runs off 40 balls) and Rohit Sharma (13 runs off 12 balls). The partnership was finally broken by Andre Russell in his first over as he dismissed the former MI skipper.
After 10 overs, MI have scored 89 runs and they now require less than 30 runs to win their first game of the season. MI finished last in IPL 2024 and started with two back to back losses. This is a good opportunity for them to finish the match early and get their NRR up.
