Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) wasted no opportunity in brutally mocking Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) opener Travis Head after the southpaw got out for just (4) runs at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata during the KKR vs SRH clash on April 03. SRH's horrible form continued as they succumbed to their third successive defeat in the ongoing 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season. To make things worse, SRH's heavy 80-run defeat at the hands of KKR has consigned them to the last position on the points table.
After scoring a mammoth 286 runs in their first game against RR, SRH batters have collectively struggled to get going for three games in a row. While chasing 200 runs against KKR, the onus was on Head to give SRH a blazing start, like he had done in the IPL 2024 campaign. However, the southpaw's poor form against KKR continued as he was out for yet another single-digit score against the defending champions. 0, 0 & 4: These are the scores recorded by Head in the last three games against KKR.
Seeing Travis Head get out cheaply yet again, KKR mocked the opener publicly on social media. Here's the epic post:
"Head-ing towards the business, right from the start," the post read.
SRH captain Pat Cummins blames Travis Head & Co. for pathetic loss against KKR
SRH captain Pat Cummins, who had publicly backed SRH batters to not back away from the ultra-positive approach, has now put all the blame on batters for not adapting to situations and conditions for SRH's 80-run loss against KKR.
"Not a great time. I think this was gettable pretty good wicket. Left too many in the field and then fell well short in the end. We need to be realistic, three games in a row it hasn't come off for us. We need to maybe look back at whether we could have chosen better options. Our batters are best when they take the game on, but looking back, maybe we could have taken different options. (On what went wrong) It was mainly our fielding overall, bowling wasn't bad. We should have taken a few catches and stopped them a bit earlier," he said.
One notable omission during the KKR vs SRH fixture was leg spinner Adam Zampa, despite the Eden Gardens surface in Kolkata offering some help to spinners. KKR's Varun Chakaravarthy picked up 3 wickets for 22 runs in his four overs. When quizzed in the post-match presentation on why Zampa was not picked, Cummins said the ball was not gripping for them.

"We only bowled 3 overs of spin, the ball wasn't gripping for us too. So opted to go without him. (On how he will deal with this loss) I will probably address it on whether we could have used different options, but don't want to dwell too much on it. We go back to a venue we know so well now."
