In a massive blow for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), leg spinner Adam Zampa has been ruled out of the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season due to a shoulder injury. Zampa featured in two matches for SRH as an impact sub but was far from his best, as he managed to pick just two wickets. It is understood that after the game against Rajasthan Royals (RR), the SRH spinner suffered some shoulder soreness in his bowling arm. SRH has named Smaran Ravichandran as a replacement player for Zampa.
Smaran, a 21-year-old left-handed batter, joined Pat Cummins & Co. at his base price of INR 30 lakh. The Karnataka player has played seven first-class games in which he has amassed over 500 runs at a brilliant average of 64.50. One of the highlights was the left-hand batter's double hundred against Punjab.
The 21-year-old has also featured in 10 List A games since his debut in 2024. Like his first-class record, Smaran also impressed in List A by scoring 433 runs at an average of 72.16, with two hundreds. In T20s, the batter has scored 170 runs in six matches at a good strike rate of 170.
