The England team, led by Harry Brook, are set to tour Sri Lanka ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026, set to be played in India & Sri Lanka in February. The news was confirmed by England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB), as they announced the schedule for the upcoming white-ball series - comprising three ODIs & three T20Is.

The Island tour will kick off with an ODI series set to begin on January 22, 24, & 27. The T20Is will be followed next on February 01, to February 03. The location for the white-ball games is yet to be decided. The T20Is will be part of England's build-up for the T20 World Cup 2024, set to be played in the subcontinent in early 2026. With the pitches set to aid spinners, the visitors will get ample preparation before the showpiece event kicks off.

England, who won the T20 WC in 2010 & 2022, fell short in the 2024 campaign as they stumbled in the semi-final hurdle, as India beat them, and went on to clinch the T20 World Cup 2024. However, since that showpiece event, England's coaching staff has been changed as Brendon McCullum has taken over as the team in all formats earlier this year.

Harry Brook aims to emulate Jos Buttler's success in the T20 WC 2022

With MuCullum as coach, one thing is clear - England will play with fearless intent as they are doing in Tests. Also, with a semi-final defeat in the last WC, the team under young skipper Harry Brook will be eyeing to win the third title. Like India, England have also got a lot of exciting young players, who are keen to showcase their class on the global stage. Jacob Bethall, Braydon Carse, Saqib Mahmood, & Rehan Ahmed are a few young players who possess immense talent. Also, Brook, who is labelled as a generational talent, is set to be one of the key players for the T20 WC 2026 alongside these youngsters.
