The much-awaited Indian squad for the Asia Cup 2025 is expected to be announced in the third week of August, as per reports.
Reportedly, the BCCI and national selectors are currently in the process of filtering names from the probables to finalize a 17-man squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025, set to begin in the UAE on September 9th.

The focus now completely shifts back to white-ball cricket following the conclusion of a nail-biting series in England, where India managed to level the series 2-2 and share the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. The squad now gets a well-deserved break of nearly a month before their next major challenge.
The board has confirmed that Suryakumar Yadav will lead the Indian team in the Continental Cup, putting a full stop to the rumours surrounding Shubman Gill being in line to lead India.

Squad Probables and Key Names to Watch
Coming to the squad probables, Test skipper Shubman Gill is expected to make his comeback in the T20I squad after his stellar performances in the England tour and consistent run in IPL 2025. Alongside him, Yashasvi Jaiswal is also expected to be in the final mix as an opening batter. Sai Sudharsan is another strong candidate, likely to receive his much-awaited limited overs opportunity.
In the bowling department, the T20 World Cup-winning duo of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj are expected to be picked, pending clearance from medical examinations. Arshdeep Singh is expected to retain his spot as the primary seamer. Meanwhile, there are no positive signs of Mohammed Shami making it into the squad.
Apart from these probable picks, selectors are expected to retain the core of India’s T20I side, with the likes of Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma, Axar Patel, Hardik Pandya, and Varun Chakravarthy being front-runners for the Asia Cup 2025.
